Arraignment

At your arraignment, the judge will read to you all of the charges that have been brought against you as a result of your DUI arrest. The State will announce the penalty and sentence they are seeking as a result of those charges. The judge will then give you an opportunity to either plea guilty and accept the sentence or to plea not guilty. You will not be given an opportunity to discuss the facts of your case at arraignment. If you are not represented by an attorney, the State may ask for more than the minimum sanctions. This means you could end up entering a plea and accepting more of a consequence than necessary.

When you hire the office of Finebloom & Haenel we make your arraignment appearance on your behalf. This prevents you from having to make an unnecessary court appearance that can result in time taken off of work or away from school or family commitments. Contact us at 941-404-5073 and we will fully explain why our representation is the best choice for you.

Discovery

Discovery is the formal word used to describe the way in which you obtain the evidence the State plans to use against you. This can include videos, police reports, witness lists, written statements and jail information.

In addition to appearing in court on your behalf we will demand discovery and work to challenge the accusations against you. It is important that you act right away! If you do not properly request discovery it can be lost or discarded! Some videos are only available for 30 days following your arrest. Do not lose an opportunity to preserve the evidence that may help defend your case. Call us now at 941-404-5073 and let our knowledgeable staff gather the information that will help you defend your case.
